November is the month of the Thanksgiving holiday and a time to be grateful, thankful and joyful with all the blessings we have around us. Each of the words mentioned end with -ful!
It’s also the month of mid-term elections which sometimes feels like the contradicting political ads are endless. The tone of the ads gives me a negative, unhappy feeling and I don’t like it. I turn off the sound to get some relief from the name calling that I heard on the fifth-grade playground when I was a teacher.
Have you done that? Just turned off the sound?
I’m stubborn! I’m not letting it get me down or take control of my mood!
So, I’ve started a gratitude list. I’ve seen many people on Facebook creating a month of gratitude with each day something to be grateful for. Some of the gratitude lists are based on the alphabet; some on the day. It really doesn’t matter which one you choose. It’s all about recognizing people, places or things that are in your life that make you happy.
When you say you’re grateful that the election is over, it gives a feeling of relief from a negative to a positive feeling. And that does feel good whatever the circumstances.
Let’s take it one step further and kick it up a notch in vibration. Elevate the vibration into something that feels even better.
That’s APPRECIATION! You’re asking, “What are you talking about?”
When you think about property that increases in value over time, it appreciates.
When you think of an investment, we hope that our money increases in value or appreciates.
When someone gives you a gift, you appreciate their thoughtfulness and kindness. Doesn’t that have a different feeling?
Here’s the start of my appreciation list:
- I appreciate that I have a son and grandson to love and be loved every day.
- I appreciate that my body still allows me to move and dance.
- I appreciate that I have a home to live in that brings me joy each day.
- I appreciate that I have food to eat every day that keeps me healthy.
- I appreciate that I have friends to laugh with, share with and feel their unconditional love.
- I appreciate the sun that shines each day to bring light and radiance to all living things.
All of the above began with “I” because it’s my list. And my list doesn’t end there.
What is you list? What do you appreciate?
